He did it again!! Khan takes the show at the GSPCWA Winter Specialty for the second year in a row!! :) Erin
Winton was his handler and again, this is her first time with Khan.
Remember she handled Stormy for the Oregon Specialty and won on their
first time out together. LOL. This is absolutley great! I handled
Stormy in this recent Specialty and we received an Award of Merit which
means we were seriously considered for the win as well. Judge even told me so. :) He
was so much fun! We ran around, and around, and around, and around and
around again. I lost count how many times we kept going around. Somewhere in all the times we ran around, I actually learned how to keep up with Stormy - FINALLY! There were 37 GSPs total, 10 CH dogs, 10 CH bitches and we ultimately took AOM and
BISS!! Great day!! |

Beautiful day! It warmed up today and also rained so it helped melt all the snow and ice away! The sun was out which made a pretty rainbow. We all went to Marymoore Offleash Park and had a great time. The dogs love romping and running around, sniffing everything they come across. I'll have to go there as much as I can now. I usually bike the Shorthairs but it is very cold now. There's also swimming and they all took a dip but I bet it was freezing cold! I'll have to take more pics when we go. |

It's Thanksgiving and we are stuck at home. Don't get me wrong, it's
very pretty here.. but like the Shorthairs I need to get outside and go
places. :/ So I think instead of a treadmill we will be saving for a
used vehicle that can be driven in snow. :) An inexpensive 4runner was suggested but then when the dogs get muddy and someday I'd like to haul birds to the field, a 4runner might not make the best option. I think we should just stick to the F250 plan because someday I'd like to haul a trailer to the dog shows and also spend the nights at the fields for the hunt trials. :) |

One of my many goals with the pups and their future offspring is to win Eukanuba and Westminster. :) I know, chance of a lifetime but that is the goal and dream and it's good to shoot high! I know I'm far from it now but it only takes steps and practice, practice, practice! Watching those events on television as a child is the reason I wanted to get involved. For Eukanuba we are working towards their Grand Championship titles and Stormy is well on her way. I am working with Stormy first as I would like to breed her in the near future then work on our many other goals. :) I am so excited and lucky to have my first two show dogs be so capable of accomplishing the many goals set. Since I've decided on the ultimate breed that can do it all, it's only fitting to try and DO IT ALL! I am very excited that we are now so close to accomplishing our first Versatile Certificate title, the GSPCA VC. This requires accomplishments in 3 different fields of specialty. The plan is to continue on and acquire the GSPCA VCA which requires accomplishing titles in 4 different fields of specialty. Then, ultimately, I would like to acquire with them the GSPCA VCX title which requires finishing/championing in 3 of the specialty fields. It will be such a great journey and I'm sure their future get will keep me just as focused and busy as I would also like to accomplish this with them as well! :) Here is more information on the Versatility titles from GSPCA. Requirements for GSPCA VC, VCA, VCX.AKC titles and point chart for GSPCA Versatile Titles. |

I handled her and received Select Bitch win at the Longview - Kelso Kennel Club show on Saturday. :) Erin does such an awesome job with Stormy, but then I started to miss handling my dogs and I would really like to get good at it. I want to be the one to show her in Eukanuba and maybe even Westminster someday. :) Erin is coaching us ring side. YAY! We are pretty rough in the ring right now. Stormy was quite the squirmy one, jumping around when the judge tried to go over her. The judge told me to let her move, do a small circle and let Stormy set herself up on her own. Stormy did a her free stack and let the judge go over her with no complaints and not even any holding from me (except the lead). I was really pleasantly surprised. The judge was so right. Stormy didn't need any help from me at all. She is so independent and so very different from all the other GSPs I've handled.. but then again, all the others are silly boys. It was fun.

Stormy and Erin took Select Bitch at the first Sporting Dog Specialty, Thursday. That was their second time together and Stormy's second 5 point major for her Grand Championship. :) Khan and Stormy's brother, Seven took Best of Winners. :) Then, at the GSPCWA Specialty, Seven took Best of Opposite Sex!! That's Seven's first major for his GC!

What a weekend! June 18th - 20th. First day was training with Kirsten and gang. The pups were with their half brothers, Nic and Nike (also Show Champions), training for the upcoming event. The dogs were definitely excited. They both did great. Khan even pointed a nice shotgun for me. :) Ha ha he was so excited. Stormy was pretty awesome that day. She was at a full run then flipped a 180 in the air into a solid point on a chukar she had just passed. Everyone was impressed.
We decided to camp and the first night, it rained... all night.. but we stayed dry. :) It was kinda nice to hear the rain. I just wished there was a shower :/... but with plenty of clean clothes to change into after sweating profusely, it worked out just fine. :) We stayed cozy in our tent. The dogs were in their wire crates, I had my cot and thick sleeping bag. It wasn't bad at all.
They both did well in their tests and I'm glad they are now both titled. :) Very fun!

Both Stormy and Khan passed their test! I had a great time. Khan is easy to work with and he quarters naturally, easy to handle. Stormy runs farther out than Khan and covers a lot of ground. Both are great in their own style. Stormy retrieves really well and Khan is still wrapping is head around picking up the bird. I think he will figure it out pretty quickly. He was picking them up no problem as a puppy so I'm totally not worried. He sets the birds for me and finally picked up the fourth one he found for us at the Hunt Test. He found so many birds that I was allowed to take a break. They are both really nice to work with.
